Another Year Without You

Do you still remember? Last Year, you promised that we will always be together. You said that you will stay by my side. Do you still remember? You said that you will never miss every single smile I make because it makes you truly happy. But you are a person with big goals. You wanted to follow your dreams, believing that achievements would make others proud of you. So you left, together with all your promises. Still, I waited, here in the place where we first met. I am hoping that you will surprise me like you always do. I wanted you to sneak from my back and cover my eyes with your gentle hands, making me guess, even though the answer is always obvious. Then as I look back at you, you will face me with a sweet smile. As the clock strikes twelve, the bell echoed through the silent halls of the dormitory. There, standing, I waited. Fireworks fly up and blooms into colorful flowers in the sky, one after another. You didn't show up. All I have now is a letter on my hands. It says

"Happy New Year!

I apologize that I can't see you right now. I've been busy chasing my dreams. But do you know what's sad?
It's the fact that as I get closer and closer to reaching my goals, I get further and further from you in return.
I wish that I could be with you and greet you personally. I miss you so much. I hope that next year, I could
go back to you, and spend all the time I could have shared with you. I love you. until then."


I shall welcome the new year without you, but I am happy that you haven't forgotten about me. Only, I really wish that you were here. You see, the flowers in the sky tonight would have been even more colorful if I'm with you.
