Christmas, we never knew such a word exists. In an world where we don’t celebrate anything on the 25th of December, me and my friends discovered a lost occasion worth rejoicing.
Me and two of my friends found an unconscious old bearded man on the streets. He is dirty and weak while his dog is barking aloud for his master. We decided to help the man, so we brought him to our secret place, a rundown cottage full of random items from the past. We offered the man food which he was very thankful for. While we were sitting in front of the table, the old man murmured;
“So the spirit of Christmas is still alive after all.”
We were puzzled as to what the old man was saying. So out of curiosity, I asked;
“ Umh, kind sir…what is this Christmas?”
We never heard of such a word before, nor is there any books written that mention about it. The old man spoke, that once he was lively, as the wishes of good children gave him strength. He travels around the world giving gifts and hope to people who are kind. Once, on that special day, people laugh and become merry. Colorful lights fill the streets with gladness, as the cold snow covers the hearts of the young with purity. We thought the old man was just telling a wonderful fairy tale. Then he said he is sad, that people of this era have forgotten what Christmas is. All must be reminded that there is a day unlike any other.
After hearing the old man, there is smile on our faces. He is telling a story from the past, and not of of his own imagination. So we asked the old man to tell us more about Christmas, and what we can do to help him.
Every afternoon, we visit the old man in our secret base to listen to his stories from way back then. The more we listen, the more we find Christmas interesting. So I suddenly said, with all seriousness;
“Let’s deliver Christmas!”
I thought it was a stupid idea, but nobody laughed.
To inform people that there’s a celebration like Christmas, and to spread the joy it brings. My friends agreed to join me without second thought. For them, it is a great idea worth trying. Then the old man suddenly laughed;
“Ho Ho Ho!”
He is laughing happily, he never expected that a day will come when people will be brave enough, and kind enough to revive Christmas.
“You are all childish, and so is Christmas.” The old man said with a smile.
And so we packed our gears and a trusty horse and wagon my father owns, to begin our travels, from town to town when the day of December 25 comes around. We decided to call our fancy group “The Christmas Troupe”. Giving gifts to children, singing carols, sprinkling fake snow to those who don’t know what snow is, all in order to introduce Christmas once again, putting smiles on everyone’s face.
I play the role of Santa Clause; the old man said it is his favorite role. A man who wears red coat, give gifts to nice kids, riding a sleigh pulled by reindeers. At first I thought it’s ridiculous, but that’s Santa. With me are two girls, both my friends. One loves sweets, so she’s the Christmas elf who gives candies and ice cream to everyone. Another, with her beautiful angelic voice, sings carols that stir the soul of everyone who hears her songs. The old man wears a weird Christmas tree costume, standing still as he watches how happy everyone is that night. Our dog also joins in with the fun, wearing antlers; he enjoys being a reindeer while carrying a bag full of gifts.
People are happy every time we perform, and promise to never forget Christmas, a day almost lost, but by sharing the gift of happiness, Christmas is here to stay.
Number of hours...Infinite....
