It's new year's eve, and minutes before we welcome a brand new day. I could still remember the promise to myself that before this year ends, I will tell to a very special girl that I like her. I wanted to see her, so I went to the plaza where we agreed to meet yesterday. I told her that there is something that I wanted to give her. She loves surprises so she said yes without second thought. She's been my friend for a long time and we are very close. I'm actually annoyed at myself, how I ended up developing feelings for a friend. I arrived at the plaza. There, a mass of people is excited to celebrate yet another delightful moment. I tried to look for her among the crowd, shouting her name. Then they started the countdown. I stopped on my track and stood still. In front of me is the special girl in my life. I stared at her eyes. I'm unable to utter any words for I might voice might teeter. Dozens of people shouted in sync, as the last ten seconds of the year slowly fades. While staring at me, she smiled and asked. "Where's my gift? You promised me right?" Of course, I forgot about that one. I rushed here without any gift at all. Then I thought of something really crazy. She anxiously waited for my answer as the final three seconds of the year is counted. I offered my empty hand to her. Her eyes puzzled. "Flowers for you" I said with a smile. With perfect timing, fireworks with different colors burst to the sky like blooming flowers. She laughed and it's the sweetest thing to start my year. "you pulled of the best surprise ever!"she said. Maybe this isn't the time to tell her how I feel. I just want to enjoy this magical moment with her. Maybe this year, I'd have the courage to give her my real gift, my love for her.
